Introduction

"It seems the 'Crowcroft' family all came from one person back in the 17 century. One person Roy White, has been looking into the background of the 'Crowcrofts'. Download the file here Use Family Tree Maker or Personal Ancestry File (PAF) to view it.

Roy also put together a background of my grandmother. It seems we are descended from a convict transported to Tasmania in 1827. Get that file here. Strange but this background was never discussed when I was growing up. Now, of course, it is fashionable to have had a convict ancestor. - Peter Crowcroft

That was written by Peter Crowcroft, which I've decided to save there for posterity.

As for me, John Crowcroft, I was born in Thailand on the 17th of May, 1987, and lived in Thailand for the first 6 years of my life. Then I moved to Hong Kong, where I have lived as the years have rolled by. I'm currently a student at the English Schools Foundation (ESF) run school, King George the Fifth School. My parents are, obviously, Peter Crowcroft and Ladda Kiatgungwalgri - however, they were never officially recognised as married couples (Making me illegitimate - but I don't mind nor care much about that) , as Peter Crowcroft was already married at the time to Jeanette Heaton, and produced two children, who are my half-brother and half-sister, Peter "Buffy" Crowcroft, and Kathryn "Wonny" Crowcroft, whom I contact and see from time to time. They both live in Melbourne, Australia.

The story on my mother's side of the family is somewhat interesting - my mother's immediate family consists of 6 other siblings, and from them I have 11 immediate cousins from my aunts and uncles. From thereon, the family tree gets a bit messy. My mother's father was a single child, however, my mother's mother was 1 out of 9 other children, and quite a few of them eached produced in excess of 5 offspring, and then each of those offspring producing in excess of 5 more offspring - so I wouldn't be surprised if I had in excess of 100 relatives. However, I don't keep in contact with any of them. Nevertheless, both my maternal Grandfather and Grandmother's families moved down from China to Thailand in order to escape all the fighting there during world war two.

I also have 2 half-cousins named Inga and Elliot, who live in Hobart, Tasmania - Who are children of my dad's half-sister, Christine Jeminson - And there is also my half-uncle, Bill Bowtell, who used to send me loads of comics when I was younger.

So, there you have it.

Peter Crowcroft has since been deceased (He died on the 13th of June, 2005, just several months shy of his 60th birthday, where he would've been eligible for a discount at McDonalds) - and after some wrangling and figuring out what the username and password was - His son, John (Me) is now the caretaker of this website. The photos of our trips to North Korea will still be up, as that is what generates most of the traffic to this website - Other fluff and trivial items have been removed.

Feel free to email me at john (AT) crowcroft.net if you want to query a teenager more about how North Korea is like, to what extent is the DPRK similar to the world of 1984, and how the North Koreans organise those...erm...parades and demonstrations out of their love for Kim Jong-Il "spontaneously" whilst having convinient chalk markers on the ground telling them where to stand.

I've finished thumbnailing the images - the reports should load faster now, as you don't have to load all the images everytime you hit the back button. Enjoy.
